Military pay chart, by rank & years of service. This is MONTHLY pay. Note below is just base pay. They get anywhere from $1000-3,000/month more that is TAX FREE

Still kind of crappy when you consider a Chief can have 16 years; a B.A, lots of sea duty, and lots of leadership and in-rate training and still only make $3700/mon.  That's not great pay.

...and yes, advancement slows down for many rates, meaning, despite good evaluations; great physical readiness, and number of awards and academical ability, a sailor may find his/her rating at a lull so that only a few are adanced each cycle.

So one can be in longer then others and still not advance despite ability (others, meaning, people in OTHER ratings).

Ergh.  Hope you're not a recruiter or something.

need help paying rent

For everyone looking for help with rent:

1.  Check with your County.  Many times they have 1 time assistance deals where you can get your rent paid.

2.  If you have children, chec with DCF to see if there are any rental assistance programs.

2a.  From Florida?  Check:  http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/homelessness/efahp.shtml

3.  Look up your local Community Action Agency.  They might be able to help with a rental payment.

4.  Contact your local Housing Authority and see about applying for Section-8.

Hope some of this is helpful to some of you.  Cheers.

need help paying rent

I'm a single mom going to school (a few credits from a B.A in Natural Sciences), and I have 6 years of military experience as an aviation weather forecaster (a meteorologist, not an assistant or a secretary or someone who looks up NWS charts).  I know html; Photoshop; and am nearly bi-lingual (can communicate well in Spanish); can type 80wpm; have leadership experience, Etc...

I make 19K a year, working 8-5, M-F, and am on Section-8.  I already have help with my rent... for now.  I also work with Habitat for Humanity in preparation for my new house (I work full days on Saturdays when they aren't cancelled).

So... I'm studying with college, working 40+hrs a week, working on Saturdays, and struggling to make a decent life for me and my little one.

(I'll spare the sob story as to why I have no savings)

Can someone help me get a better paying job?
